And even after informing him that it’s cash/local only?

“due to the nature of my job i cannot meet face to face. i will send postal money order it will be delivered in cash.”

Um, no. 

I had similar issues when selling some electornics on craigslist. “CASH ONLY!” apparently means instant scam contact.

And when I finally gave up on selling some furniture we had in the garage and I switched it to ‘FREE you must pick up’, I got folks asking me if I could deliver it and one guys tried to give me a sob story about how he would come get it, but he only has a bicycle and lives downtown, but really wants to help me out and take it off my hands, could I deliver.

I mean WTF, seriously?
