Fell asleep with my phone on silent. Which was mistake #2, I only meant to take a nap and forgot to set my alarm.
I had missed a couple of text messages and it was a client calling to inform me that something wasn’t working properly. Booted up the laptop, fixed it, still not 100% certain on the root cause, I know that it was a resource load issue, caused by normal load + unusual activity from a single IP address. But not sure what caused that 1 IP address to spaz out, as it doesn’t look like a DoS.
Blocked it in the firewall and have been monitoring. Making sure not to have my phone on silent next time I take a nap. Also, setting an alarm.
